In your area Jim Von Lossow of Von's Golf is one
of the best clubfitters not just in the Pacific
Northwest, but in the whole country. I've actually
known Jim for over 20 years in the business and he

your equipment upgrade and he'll definitely shoot

There are no better golf shops anywhere. I have
known Jim Von Lossow for a number of years. He is
patient as an instructor and accurate to a tee. He
can fit you with a hat, putter or an entire set of
clubs and makes sure they are right. I know because
any money I have spent at Von's golf I have gotten 8
or 10 times it's value. Can't put a price on good
equipment or a great day golfing. When I am able I
will bring my kids to Von's when they are ready.

Jim Von Lossow (Von) knows putters. Particularly
putters on the heavy side. I researched and
experimented for putters for years - finally bought
a von's and it is great. Also got Certified Balance
weights from him since I also believe in weighting
the grip end. The best putter maker you've probably
never heard of...yet.
Von is truly a master of his craft. I highly
recommend him.
Simply the finest golf shop in Washington. Expertise
in clubmaking and tooling that is unmatched. Owner
is former PGA Tour Player and understands the needs
of the novice to tour player.
Jim Von at Von's Golf was the only vendor in the
Seattle area that was knowledgable about the E21
Scandium Alloy golf shafts that I was looking for.
He was able to order the shafts to my specifications
and re-shaft all of my clubs for me for a great
price. I recommend Von's Golf Shop to any golfer
looking for great service and products.
Excellent, never rushed, never pushed, just helps
you understand what it takes to play your best game.
Great technical advise from a PGA professional with
custom club fitting at a reasonable price.

More Satisfied Customers:
New Custom Irons from Von's Golf
There have been a few threads recently on the dl
about custom vs. OEM clubs and so I thought I would
give a quick overview of my recent purchase of new
irons. I know this would have been of more use to
folks a couple of weeks ago but I wanted the
purchase to be complete before I reported in. The
short version is that I’m very happy with my
purchase and would recommend Von’s golf to anyone
looking for new clubs.
With that here’s the story -
My previous irons (KZG MCII’s on Nippon 950 shafts)
while nice were not particularly forgiving. When I
bought them I was still a beginner and figured that
I would grow into them. That hasn’t happened as
quickly as I would like and while they work great
when I’m swinging well they are no help when I’m
not. I decided I needed something a bit more
forgiving though maybe not quite in the super-game
improvement category.
So, I took my question to Jim Von Lossow the owner
of Von’s golf. He had done my previous irons and and
I thought he would be able to help me out. I had
originally picked him because of his reputation as a
club maker at my club and also through various
instructors I have worked with. Jim has been a club
maker for a lot of years and between his experience
and the tech he has I have a lot of confidence in
his ability to deliver well fit clubs. It also
doesn’t hurt that he was a touring pro in the ‘70s
and is a golf instructor as well. The guy just plain
has a ton of depth when it comes to golf.
Anyway I came to Jim with a couple of club heads in
mind already. He had samples on hand as well as a
number of other choices and so I was able to get a
sense of the choices available. Keep in mind that
since I’m left handed he did not have anything built
that I could try; righty’s will have a different
(and better) experience on that front. Since one
club head (Wishon 770CFEs) really spoke to me over
all the others we decided to get some in for me to
try out. Also during that visit he did both static
measurement and got me on a swing monitor (the
Trackman system) to get some data on my swing –
angle of attack, swing speed, ball speed, launch
angle, etc. This data plus his observation of my
swing were inputs into his shaft recommendations.
When the club heads came in Jim built out some clubs
with various shafts for me to try. One with the
Nippon I already have, one graphite, and one with a
heavier standard steel shaft. I was able to take
these clubs with me to the range and on the course
and really try them out before deciding which shaft
I liked best. The three shafts were all well suited
to my swing speed and tempo but very clearly
different from each other in lots of ways so I
really appreciated the time for a test drive. In the
end I decided to stick with the Nippons.
With the components selected the rest was pretty
easy. Jim got the rest of the components he needed
and then built out the clubs. The last step was to
go back in for a final fitting of the lie angle. He
had me hit the clubs (using marked balls and impact
tape) to see whether anything need to be changed. He
has a loft/lie machine to do all the bending
necessary and took care of that during the fitting.
While we were at it he checked the lofts of my
wedges an bent those back to spec for me.
In the end I’m very happy with the clubs he
delivered and the process has given me a lot of
confidence that I have the right clubs in my bag.
The cost was pretty reasonable (7 irons – PW through
4-iron @ $85 per club = $595) and the quality of the
components is very high; at least as high as any OEM
clubs I’ve ever seen. The workmanship is impeccable,
Jim clearly cares about doing the best quality work.
I give Von’s golf a very strong recommendation to
any of you looking for new clubs.
Now for a couple of side notes:
In addition to the new irons, I had my 4 wood
re-shafted with a Nippon 950 steel shaft as well. I
mention this for two reasons. First, the nice thing
about working with a club fitter like Von’s is that
in addition to new equipment he can fix or improve
what you already have. Also, I love the resulting
new wood. It has helped smooth out my tempo with the
club and I’m getting great results.
Lastly, due to the golf business being slow, Jim
closed down his storefront and is now operating out
of his home in the View Ridge neighborhood of
Seattle. So be prepared that this is not going to be
your usual golf shop. Balls are hit into nets, etc.
But don’t let that put you off or deter you. Jim has
the goods when it comes to experience, tech, and
equipment to get you fitted.

New Driver from Von's Golf Appreciated
Jim,
I'm getting along surprisingly well with the new
driver you made me. The extra distance is
significant, but more importantly I have been
hitting fairways more consistently than I did with
my three wood. I'd call that a win-win. Today at
Kenwanda I hit the first nine fairways in a row, and
overall I only missed one fairway in the 18-hole
round, hitting driver on 15 holes. Maybe Tiger
should come see you. This has also helped my scores;
today a 4-over 73 (par=69 at Kenwanda).
So I wanted to give you a report, and say THANKS.
Keith S.
Jim,
I have been to the driving range and also played one
round of golf with the new driver shaft. Now with
the new shaft I am even straighter than before with
my old Ping driver. With the Ping my distance was
about 210 yards and now I am about 230 yards. With
my Ping I had a slight fade and now I am basically
dead straight. I dont know the physics involved but
my guess is with the light shaft I had a whip action
that caused the push and slice. That was the case
even after you added weight in the handle.
Apparently the weight of the shaft had to be
distributed evenly throughout the shaft. I got my
first eagle this year after purchasing your clubs.
Now I will let you know when I finally break 80 for
the first time. Now if I could only putt...
GC
Jim,
I can now hit the ball 240 to 260 yards on a regular
basis. That is 30 to 40 yards more than with the ole
driver and ball. In the last three weeks I have shot
83 at Jackson, a personal best, 82 at Legion and 81
at Walter Hall. In the Walter Hall round I was on I
regulation 12 times, a personal best again. The
other thing that is working very well are my two new
hybrids. In all of the above rounds I did not “flub”
one shot off of the fairway. They may not have all
been perfect but they were all well struck including
one shot with the “1” hybrid that went 223 yards
from a good lie in the fairway.
I also went and voted for you at King 5.
Thanks,
Brian
I actually relocated back to the Bay Area
recently and have won low gross in the last 3
tourneys I've played since you built my latest
driver to optimize my launch/spin conditions,
including the club championship. Wanted to let you
know the good play (for me) is in large part to
being about 20 yds longer off the tee. I appreciate
the really great service, and when I visit Seattle
periodically in the future, I'll be sure to bring my
clubs with me in the event I need work on them.

about them ! Awesome. Thanks again ! S.W.

Trackman Report:
Jim,
Thanks for the help with the driver fitting. I have
had several friends ask me about your service, and I
have given them your web site and phone number.
I am very pleased with the new driver I found during
our session (Ping G-10 with Graffaloy Red shaft). I
am now used to it and am hitting it 270 yards or
more routinely at Rainier, which is great
considering how cold it has been this spring.
I played at Chamber's Bay last Friday and hit it
great. I averaged about 280 off the tee which is
about 20 yards longer than my old driver (Titleist
905 R with V2 Proforce shaft). Shot 2 under par
also! The straight long driver was the key.
Thanks again for your help.
Patrick S.
Jim,
Both boys see a huge improvement in their drivers
and three woods; Charlie was very excited by the
shaft you put on his 3 wood. He added almost 30
yards to his driver. Alex hit all 14 fairways with
his new driver shaft. I have renewed my credibility
by bringing them to your shop. They can’t wait to
get their irons and see how they perform. I’m
officially toast now.
Thanks
Jim,
You fit me with the launch monitor recently and
we built a driver and a 3 wood. I can' t tell you
how much these clubs have helped my game and made me
a longer hitter as well. The Nakashima Strong 3 wood
NX-1 I am just crushing it, as far as my playing
partners driver ! I was never this long or straight.
You fit me with the UST Irod graphite wood shafts.
My driver is a Wishon Golf Technologies model 949
with a 400 cc head. I love that size and with the
shaft combination, again I am 20 yards beyond my 3
wood distance.
You also added the Balance - Certified weights to
these clubs and the feel, power and overall
confidence I have now is just great.
I will be in soon to get some irons made. Your clubs
are the best.
Thanks Again.

Reshafted wood club:
Good morning Jim,
Yesterday Drew took the PAT over at the University
Course at U of Idaho. Qualifying score was 155, and
he shot 150 (72-78) in wind and rain. 72 was the low
round of the day, and he was also low qualifier out
of 40 players. He is ecstatic, and after all the ups
and downs he had in jr. golf we are thrilled for him
as well.
I wanted to let you know that he is crediting that
reshafted 3 wood you did for him for a lot of his
success yesterday. He loves that shaft, and with the
wind yesterday he got it up and going downwind a
number of times. In particular he got it up downwind
on a short par 4 (295 yards) and only had about 30
yards left to the green. He then hit a wedge in, and
knocked it in for an eagle! Coming after two
straight birdies that set the tone for his early
round, and he just played conservatively in the
afternoon round.
...I'm sure he will be over to see you but I wanted
to let you know he has been very pleased with his
Von's clubs...
Best,
Dwight
Zero OS model in
left-hand:
Jim,
Absolutely perfect! The weight is exactly what I was
looking for and it rolls the rock very smoothly and
I have much more confidence because of the superior
weighting.
Thanks again and please let me know when you come
out with new models.

New Gear:
Von,
Another golf day with good surprises-I chipped from
30 yds with the 60 deg wedge, it hit the flag pole,
ran down the stick and into the cup=birdie. I out
drove my partners several times, a pleasure that
rarely occurred in the past.
Thanks for your advice,
Peter
398 Putter:
Jim,
Received the 398 putter and I am glad I found your
website!
I am a believer in the heavy headweight, it truly
works for me. I play at an old Donald Ross course
with fast greens and the ball just rolls beautifully
and true off this putter.
I own other premium putters and the custom stamping
and craftsmanship made this my number one.
Regards,
Jerry Pope
Balance Certified:
Jim,
Thanks for recommending the Balance Certified system
for my putter. I was pretty skeptical that just
adding a few grams would make that much difference,
but it really works. It helps quiet my hands which
allows me to make a smoother putting stroke.
You still have to read them right, but I have a lot
more confidence that I will roll it smoothly with
the Balance Certified system.

KZG:
Dear Jim:
I would like to thank you for the great job you did
fitting me for my new putter an irons. I appreciate
your craftsmanship and your expertise.
The putter is outstanding. My distance control is so
much better. I have taken two to three putts off of
my score per round and I would advise everyone to go
with the counter balancing. It makes the stroke
silky smooth!
The KZG irons and wedges you made for me are like
the putter - outstanding. They are two degrees
weaker lofted than my old irons but, with the Nippon
shaft (N.S. pro 1050GH) I have not given up any
yardage and it is easy to work the ball with these
irons. The KZG wedges (9500R) are a great wedge, the
best I have played. You can really stop a ball on
the green (we have firm greens in eastern
Washington). They have a great feel around the
greens and out of the bunkers. KZG is a top of the
line club.
In closing, I want you to know how much I appreciate
your honesty, expertise and craftsmanship. You have
a customer for life!
Sincerely,
Roy H. Schreifels
KZG Gemini Driver:
Jim,
I want to thank you for recommending the 10.5 degree
Gemini driver.
I used to waste 4 -5 strokes each round recovering
from sprayed drives. I was never sure where my old
driver was going to take me.
With the Gemini I may only miss one or two fairways
a round. I actually have more confidence in it than
my long irons off the tee. I've now dropped from a
13 handicap to a 9 in two months. That's a lot of
improvement for a relatively small investment.
I'm looking forward to trying the SL version as my
fairway wood.
Jim Nolan
